Kali Linux is DEBIAN-DERIVED LINUX DISTRIBUTION designed for digital forensics and penetration testing. It is maintained and funded by offensive security ltd.
Kali is preinstalled with over 600 penetration testing tools including N-map(a port scanner), wireshark(a packet analyzer), john the ripper(a password cracker), burp-suite and owasp zap(both web application security scanners) and more. kali can run natively when installed on computer hard disk, can be booted from a live cd or live USB, or it can run within a virtual machine.
It was developed by Mati Aharoni and Devon Kearns through the rewrite of Backtrack, their previous forensic Linux distribution based on Ubuntu.
Kali is distributed in 32-bit and 64 bit images for use on x86 instruction set, and as an image for ARM architecture for use on Beagle board computer and Samsung's ARM chromebook.

At presently we are using kali-linux 1.1.0a.iso version.. In kali linux official site there is kali 2.0 version available..We are still working on it...!!

STEPS TO DOWNLOAD KALI LINUX:
Step-3: You can see the kali linux 2.0 iso version. Click iso to download .iso image file or torrentz to download it from torrent.
Step-4:If you want to download the previous versions of kali go to>>> "DOWNLOAD KALI LINUX IMAGES SECURELY" and click "KALI LINUX DOWNLOAD SERVER".
Step-5: Now here you can see list of previous versions. Presently we are using kali 1.1.0a version. so click on it.
NOTE: BE PATIENT WHILE DOWNLOADING KALI BECAUSE THE FILE SIZE IS 3GB. SO IF YOU HAVE HIGHER NET SPEED YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT FASTLY.
